  • 6-7 lb. spiral ham bone in, fully cooked
  • 2 cups apple cider or apple juice divided into two, ½ cup portions and one, 1-cup portion.
  • 2 cups brown sugar divided into two 1-cup portions
  • ¼ cup coarse ground mustard divided into two 2-tablespoon portions
  • ¼ cup honey divided into two 2-tablespoon portions
  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together ½ cup apple juice, 1 cup packed brown sugar, 2 tablespoons coarse ground mustard and 2 tablespoons honey.
  2. Place the ham in a rimmed dish and pour the apple juice mixture over the entire ham. Rub it in and around the ham – being sure to get in-between the slices of ham (as much as possible).
  3. Spray the [8 Qt Instant Pot|http://amzn.to/2Ar1ugs rel='nofollow'] pan insert with cooking spray and pour 1 cup apple juice in the bottom. Place the ham in the Instant Pot and pour any leftover juices that had drained off the ham back over the ham. Cover and lock the lid in place with the vent closed. Set the Instant Pot on manual and on high pressure for 15 minutes. Allow the steam to release naturally (unless you are in a hurry, then do a quick release of the steam).

  4. While the ham is cooking, cover a rimmed baking sheet with foil, and spray the foil with nonstick spray.
  5. Set the oven to broil.
  6. Remove the ham from the pressure cooker and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Combine ½ cup apple juice, 2 tablespoons coarse mustard and 2 tablespoons honey in a small bowl. Brush the apple juice mixture over the cooked ham. Rub (and press) 1-cup brown sugar into the top surfaces of the ham, and place the ham under the broiler 5-10 minutes or until the glaze is bubbly and caramelized.
  8. Transfer the ham to a cooling rack and cool for a few minutes. Serve warm or cold. It is delicious either way.
  9. Enjoy!

Would I be able to make this in my 6qt Instant pot? And when putting the ham in the insert, do you put it directly in to it or on the trivet that came with it?
    Becky Hardin
Ours was pretty tight in our 8qt...but if you got a small enough ham you could absolutely do it in a 6 qt. And yes, directly in. :)
Would the cook time be different for a smaller ham?
        Becky Hardin
Yes shave 5 minutes off I'd say. I haven't done it on a smaller ham but I would think a big shorter would be good.
Hi there, so i jUst made this and im wondering did you find it difficult to remove from the pot? It was a tight fit but it also fell apart. Thanks
    Becky Hardin
Did you use an 8 qt? We had trouble a bit just because it was heavy so two people helped to get it out. Otherwise we didn't have trouble with it falling apart...I'm sorry! I hope it still tasted delicious.
what do you do if you have a 6 quart instant pot??? I would think you could do the same thing but just get a smaller ham and try to re-figure the ratio of ingredients. I think maybe I already answered my own question. LOL Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year to you and yours.
    Becky Hardin
Ha! Yes you can do that, we just had trouble finding a smaller ham. If you can find one that would work perfectly. You could also probably cook for a few less minutes, but the cook time should be about the same. Merry Christmas!!
Now im verry hungry
Is the insert you are talking about the little metal rack it comes with?
I thought the "insert" was the actual cooking vessel; the "little metal rack" would be the trivet.
i made this today! it was really good and easy! i find it too mustardy, but hubby does not think so. i only had 4 lbs of ham no-bone. i used half the ingredients but used the same cook time. STILL TURNED OUT GREAT! NOT FALLING APART AT ALL. thank you for sharing your recipe! :)

Sounds like a wonderful way to prepare a ham but 880 calories per serving? Surely not. Please confirm. Thanks!
