No matter how you spell it – pierogie, pirogi, or piroshi – it is still a doughy dumpling with a potato, meat, sauerkraut, or fruit filling. Being from Pittsburgh, I’ve always celebrated the pierogie. We love it so much, we even have pierogi run at the Pirates baseball games! Pierogies are a huge hit on the Eastern side of the US, not just in Pittsburgh. At many restaurants here in Cleveland, you will see pierogies on the menu. This simple little dumpling is just so tasty! It also can be made several ways – just change up what you use as a filling, or what sort of dish you use it in!
