Ingredients
- 1/2 lb boneless chicken cut in strips
- 1/2 tsp each paprika, cumin, oregano and sumac
- Pinch of cinnamon
- Olive oil
- Pine nuts
- 1/4 cup pickled turnips cut in cubes
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 19 oz can Chickpeas or Garbanzo beans (reserve a few)
- Juice of a Lemon
- 2 tbsps Olive oil
- 4 cloves Spiced Garlic
- 3 tbsps Tahina (sesame paste)
- 1/2 tsp each paprika, cumin, oregano and sumac
- Salt and white pepper
Recipe Description
I grew up in the Middle East in Abu Dhabi where Shawarma stalls graced every nook and cranny. When I think about a Shawarma, I think about the fresh pita, covered with creamy hummus, spiced chicken, pickled turnips and fresh herbs. This appetizer can be prepped ahead, assembled at the last minute and serves a large crowd and will bring all those fantastic ingredients together.
