Ingredients
- Oats: 1 cup
- Oil: 1 tablespoon
- Onion: 2 tablespoons plus a little extra for the crunchy mixture
- Capsicum: ½ cup
- Cauliflower (blanched): ¼ cup
- Green peas (blanched): 2 tablespoons
- Cabbage: ¼ cup
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper powder: 2 teaspoons
- Cumin powder: 2 teaspoons
- Chilli powder: 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder: 2 teaspoons
- Kissan Sweet & Spicy Sauce: 2 tablespoons
- Potato (boiled): 1
- Tomato: ½ cup
- Pomegranate Seeds: 1 tablespoon
- Chopped banana: 1 tablespoon
- Dabeli Masala:1 teaspoon
- Chaat masala: 1 teaspoon
- Fresh Coriander: 2 teaspoons plus a little extra for the dabeli mixture
- Pav (whole wheat if possible): 3
- Cheese: a handfull for garnish
- Water as required
- Masala peanuts: 1 tablespoon
Recipe Description
Dabeli is a popular street food originated in Kutch, it is also known as “Kutchi Dabeli” or “Double Roti”. It is an easy snacks recipe made with spicy tomato mixture combined with onion, garlic chutney and meetha chutney, spiced masala peanut fruit like pomegranates and served in a masala pav. There are healthy snacks recipes but this recipe is packed with healthy vegetable covered in fibre- rich oats added with the delightful flavour of kissan sweet and spicy sauce. METHOD OF PREPARATION
- Heat a pan, add oats and roast lightly. Transfer to a mixing bowl.
- Heat oil in the same pan and add chopped onions, capsicum, cauliflower, green peas, cabbage and capsicum and sauté well.
- Add in salt, pepper and powdered spices to the mixture. Pour in some water and let the veggies cook.
- Add Kissan Sweet & Spicy Sauce, chopped potato and tomatoes. Close the lid and let it simmer.
- Add in pomegranate seeds and banana and mash the mixture together.
- Mix in the roasted oats, dabeli and chaat masalas and fresh coriander leaves. Mix very well.
- Cut the pavs in half and fill them with the mixture. Garnish with a sprinkling of cheese.
- Toast the pav on both sides.
- In a dry plate mix together masala peanuts, chopped onions, fresh coriander to make the crunchy mixture.
- Dab the dabeli on all sides with the crunchy mixture.
- Crunchy dabeli is ready to pack in the tiffin box.
