Recipe Description

Growing up, my mom was the “cookie mom”. You know, the one that always had a plate of fresh cookies on the counter, ready for all the neighborhood kids to come over and enjoy! Yes, that was her! All my friends LOVED coming over to have cookies and milk, and it was always fun because she was MY mom!!

Fast forward several years and now I have kids of my own. Am I a cookie mom? Unfortunately, no…..cookies and I rarely click because I manage to either forget an ingredient, use old baking soda/powder (yeah….they end up looking like pancakes), or I overcook them and turn them into biscuits (oops)! Luckily, my kids aren’t deprived because I make lots of other goodies, and Grammy is right down the street, so they get to enjoy her cookies!!

Well, a few weeks ago, the kids school was putting on a carnival and I signed up to bring a baked good. At the time of sign up, I thought, I will make a cake and all will be well. Well, then I realized, I signed up to bring cookies! AHHHHHH!!! I quickly called my mom and told her I was determined to make cookies that actually turned out good. Since I had all the ingredients on hand, I made her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies with my son, and surprise surprise…..they turned out amazing!! I had four dozen soft, chocolate filled, edible cookies haha! My older kids came home from school, taste tested the cookies and definitely approved! I wrapped them all up and sent them off to school quite proud of myself!!

Who knows, I may just become cookie mom after all…..these were simple, tasty, and made lots for everyone!
