Ingredients
- 1 1/2 C AP Flour
- 1 1/2 t Baking Powder
- 1/4 t Baking Soda
- 1/4 t Salt
- 1 T Sugar
- 3/4 C Heavy Cream
- 1/2 C Buttermilk
- 2 # Strawberries
- 2 T Sugar
- 1 T Grand Marnier
- 2 C Heavy Cream
- 2 Vanilla Beans
- 2 T Sugar
Recipe Description
Wonderful summertime dessert! Fresh strawberries, with just a hint of the orange Grand Marnier, were made for this shortcake and are amazing topped with the fresh vanilla bean whipped cream.
I have substituted Splenda and it hasn't affected the flavor but prefer the real sugar in the strawberries.
Recipe Directions
For Shortcakes:
Preheat oven to 350'.
Wisk dry ingredients together. Stir in buttermilk & heavy cream.
Scoop 5 even portions onto cookie sheet. Bake for 35 minutes, turning once.
For strawberries:
Clean and chop strawberries. Mix in sugar and grand Marnier. Place in fridge for several hours.
For whipped cream:
In mixing bowl place heavy cream and vanilla pods from seeds. Start mixer on medium. Move to high and slowly add sugar until whipped to stiff peaks.
To assemble:
Cut shortcake in half horizontally.
Smear some whipping cream on bottom half.
Add about 3/4 C strawberry mix.
Place top half on strawberries and top with whipping cream.
