Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 and ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) of unsalted butter, melted
- 1 and ⅓ cups granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 3 to 4 tart apples such as granny smith
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- cooking spray
- whipped cream or ice cream for serving if desired
Recipe Description
This apple cinnamon honey cake starts with a buttery cake base. Layers of fresh apples coated in cinnamon and sugar are added on top and the cake is baked to a golden brown. Honey is brushed over the top of the cake for the finishing touch. This cake is very simple to make yet looks impressive enough for a special occasion.
