Makes 2 Dozen

* 1/2 cup white sugar

* 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

* 1/2 cup butter (one stick – make sure it is softened or room temperature)

* 1 egg

* 1/4 cup root beer

* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

* 1 3/4 cup flour

* 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

* 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (I like the mini’s but you can use any size you want)

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  2. Using some sort of mixer, mix together both types of sugar, butter, egg, root beer and vanilla.
  3. Add flour and baking soda.  Mix well.
  4. Add chocolate chips.  Mix with a spoon, otherwise the mixer may chop up the chips.
  5. Drop teaspoon size pieces of dough 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet or silpat (non-stick silicone baking sheet).  Bake 6 – 8 minutes.

5.

  1. Note- when first taken out of the oven they look like they are not cooked (too yellow-y/white-ish in color).  For some reason after they are taken out of the oven they caramelize and get a more golden look.
