- 175g butter, softened
- 1½ cups flour
- 1¼ tspn baking powder
- ¾ tspn salt
- 1 tspn cinnamon
- ½ tspn baking soda
- 2 cups mashed, very ripe bananas (about 5 medium-sized bananas)
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 4 eggs, at room temperature
- 60g butter
- 400g bittersweet chocolate (around 50-60% cocoa)
- ¾ tspn sea salt
- 1½ cups cream
- Sea salt for sprinkling
Recipe Description
Classic banana cake ramped up with the addition of browned butter and chocolate ganache. The browned butter gives it a nutty depth of flavour and the salted chocolate ganache takes this cake from a tried and true classic to a truly spectacular (but still easy!) dessert. This recipe is really an excellent addition to any occasion, be it special or not!
