Ingredients
- 500 gm baby potatoes
- 150 gm onions
- 2 tsps garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- 2 tomatoes cut in medium pieces
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp red chilly powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 50 gms mustard oil for cooking
- Salt to taste
- 2 green chillies finely chopped
- Finely Chopped Fresh Coriander Leaves
Recipe Description
A side dish from the paradise Kashmir - the north Indian State , a simple yet delicious accompaniment with every meal. Easy to prepare - no hard to find ingredients. This dish is very popular in India and many variations exist. This one is my personal favorite and is exteremely popular in North India and will find space on the dinner table of Indian families at least once a week.
Recipe Directions
Boil the baby potatoes and peel them
In a medium sized pan heat mustard oil
Add finely Chopped Onions
Cook till they turn golden brown
Add ginger and garlic paste
Cook on low flame for approx. 2-3 minutes
Add tomatoes to the mixture
Cook till tomatoes are melted & blended well
Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and salt
Cook till the oil separates from mixture
Add the boiled baby potatoes
Cook on low flame for 2-3 min
Add water and boil for 10 mins
Add garam masala to the boiling mixture
Let the water dry
Transfer to a Serving bowl
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and green chillies
