Recipe Description

This meatloaf recipe is a little different than grandma's Sunday meatload. You'll enjoy the smokey hickory taste, you can also easily add extras like peppers & tomatoes to the mix.
This meatloaf also can be made in advance, it can even be frozen so it's right at hand to pop into the oven quickly. Even better for meatloaf sandwiches the next day!

Recipe Directions

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat 400°

HICKORY SAUCE:
Make the hickory sauce by combining all of the ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat.  When the mixture begins to bubble, reduce the heat & simmer for 5 minutes. Then let cool & set aside.

MEATLOAF:
Combine ¼ cup of the hickory sauce with the ground meats & other ingredients in a large bowl. Mix until all the ingredients are well combined.

Press into 8x5 inch bread pan. Cover with foil & bake for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove foil & pour ¼ cup of hickory sauce over the top of meatloaf.
Bake uncovered for another 20-25 minutes or until meatloaf has browned along the edges.

Pour off any fat, let cool for 10 minutes.
Remove from pan & slice in desired size of slices.

Serve remaining hickory sauce on side.
