  • 1 pound dry pinto beans rinsed well
  • 1 medium sweet onion diced
  • 4 cloves garlic roughly chopped
  • 1 jalapeno seeded and chopped
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp dry oregano
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper freshly cracked
  • 3 T coconut oil, vegetable oil, lard or fat of your choice
  • 3 1/2 C beef broth/stock or water

Recipe Description

Making homemade refried beans usually takes most of the day.  Now that I've started using my Instant Pot, I can have homemade, delicious refried beans in a fraction of the time.  Just dump everything in the pot and let it work it's magic.  Once it's all cooked, simply use an immersion blender to get your desired consistency.
