Ingredients
- ¾ cup warm water
- 1 and ½ teaspoons sugar
- 1 package of active dry yeast (2 and ¼ teaspoons)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 2 and ¼ cups all purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon of butter, melted
- 1 lb of chicken apple sausages or hot dogs
- 12 cups of water
- ⅔ cup of baking soda
- 1 egg, beaten
- coarse salt, sesame seeds and/or chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Recipe Description
This recipe for pretzel dogs is actually easier than it looks – a simple yeast dough is wrapped around chicken apple sausages. The pretzel dogs are then briefly dipped in a baking soda bath, brushed with egg and baked in the oven. You really can use whatever sausage or hot dog you want in this recipe.
