  • 1 package of active dry yeast (2 and ¼ teaspoons)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt

  • 1 lb of chicken apple sausages or hot dogs
  • 12 cups of water
  • ⅔ cup of baking soda
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • coarse salt, sesame seeds and/or chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Recipe Description

This recipe for pretzel dogs is actually easier than it looks – a simple yeast dough is wrapped around chicken apple sausages. The pretzel dogs are then briefly dipped in a baking soda bath, brushed with egg and baked in the oven. You really can use whatever sausage or hot dog you want in this recipe.
